RIGENERA™ is an innovative treatment that combats hair loss and stimulates the growth of new hair. It involves injection of a unique combination of stem cells precursors, growth factors and progenitor cells into the scalp in order to promote the regenerative processes.
Androgenetic Alopecia is a hereditary androgen-dependent condition, characterised by a progressive thinning and recession of scalp hair. It is a pathological condition characterized by an unbalance between the anagen and telogen phase with a reduction of the anagen phase and an increase of the telogen phase.
In men, hair loss has a defined pattern that starts in the area of both temples and increases over time generating the typical “M” shape. In women, hair gets thinner all over the head without a hairline recession.
The hair loss is related both to genetic and hormonal factors.
RIGENERA™ is a regenerative micrografting treatment that works in an autologous, homologous and minimally invasive manner where the patient is both donor and acceptor. Micrografts are obtained starting from small fragments of tissue harvested using a dermal punch, and then mechanically disaggregated with the Rigeneracons medical device. The processed tissue can be then used as micrografts.
Applied to Androgenetic Alopecia, the micrograft works both in the preventive phase (when hair loss starts) and during the active phase (when the aim is to stimulate the follicles regeneration). The micrograft induces the follicle in the telogen phase to grow new hair and to strengthen the active ones.
A treatment by RIGENERA™ require a previous consultation in order to carry out a specific clinical exam with a microscope to study the general aspect of the scalp and evaluate the number and diameter of hairs, whether there are little hairs or not, the aspect of hair follicles and the the number of hairs in the same hair follicle. We will also determinate if there is a contradication.
The actual treatment which requires a single session of approximately I hour begins with the extraction of three tissue samples from the back of scalp. The tissue samples are extracted with a 2.5 mm hole punch from the bottom of the donor scalp, also known as the nape section. The samples are essentially large FUE extractions and contain several hair follicles each, as well as the surrounding fat and vascular tissue.
The tissue samples are then placed into the RIGENERA™ machine and mechanically ground into a solution. Stem cells from the hair follicles, fat, and blood are filtered by the machine and are extracted into a needle syringe. The stem cell-containing solution is then injected into the scalp in a similar fashion to PRP. The procedure is carried out in a single session and takes approximately I hour. Different sessions of hair stimulation could be done for maintaining the results.
The laser hair removal machine has a built-in cooling system, making the treatment more comfortable. The head of the device has a large spot size, meaning big patches of hair can be treated at once, reducing treatment time in comparison to other systems.
You will also be asked to wear special protective glasses during treatment, in order to prevent the light from damaging your eyes.
The duration of the procedure depends on how many parts of the face (or body) are to be treated, starting from 5 minutes for just one part of the face, up to half an hour for the entire face. There is no recovery time required and it is possible to return to normal activities within a few hours.
