Professor Ali Ghanem, one of the world’s most respected aesthetic plastic surgeons and facial aesthetics specialists, is the founder and director of The Ghanem Clinic.
After attending medical schools in Syria and the United Kingdom, Mr Ghanem completed his surgical training at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England. He was then awarded his Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology from University College London, working on molecular regulation of embryonic stem cells differentiation.
His extensive and unique academic and professional background combines scientific rigour (MSc with Distinction in Surgical Science, University College London), biotechnological advances (PhD in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology, University College London), aesthetic vision (MSc with Distinction in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Queen Mary University of London) and the art of Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery (General Medical Council Specialist Register & The Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery).
Mr Ghanem is a UK trained plastic reconstructive aesthetic surgeon with international fellowships in Seoul-South Korea, Brussels-Belgium, Paris-France, Toronto-Canada and Miami-USA. He has closely worked with global experts in the field including (Sam Hamra face lift, Texas USA; Nasser Nasser rhinoplasty, London UK; Moustapha Hamdi aesthetic breast surgery, Brussels Belgium; Fahd Benslimane microfat grafting, Casablanca Morocco; Pierpaolo Rovatti FaceTiteTM; Verona Italy and Roger Khouri Regenerative Surgery; Miami USA) with the highest of ethical principles (MPhil in Medical Law and Ethics – Glasgow University).
Mr Ghanem’s academic work has been recognised by many prestigious prizes and awards such as The Arnold Huddard Medal of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland, Education Excellence Innovation Award from London Deanery, visiting Professorships at Barcelona University, Spain and Cardarelli Biotechnology Centre in Naples, Italy. He was recently honoured for significant contribution to aesthetic plastic surgery education by the Pan Arab Association of Burn and Plastic Surgery and the prestigious International Fellowship of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He was recently named as Best for Total Face Refresh in the respected Tatler Beauty and Cosmetic Surgery Guide.
Mr Ghanem served as clinical senior lecturer in Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery at Barts and at the London School of Medicine and Dentistry of Queen Mary University of London where he founded and led the Master of Science programme in Aesthetic Medicine and Reconstructive Microsurgery until 2020. In 2020 he was appointed as a visiting Professor of Aesthetic Medicine at the College of Medicine and Dentistry Birmingham and Ulster University with a remit to establish and direct the new department of Facial Aesthetics. He is the Lead Consultant and Founder – Director of the Academy of the Aesthetic Regenerative Medicine, a leading training organisation for aesthetic practitioners.
Mr Ghanem is an in-demand speaker at medical conferences worldwide, and serves as key opinion leader and trainer for a number of major pharma and technology companies. He appears regularly in the media as an authority on aesthetic and regenerative medicine. In 2023 he wrote and presented an 8 part television series called Finest Design exploring all aspects of aesthetic medicine which aired on Bahrain International TV.
