Tearing Eyes
Tearing Eyes
Correction of tearing eyes, which may result from scarring of the tear ducts, prior surgery, or injury, can dramatically improve quality of life and vision.
Using a variety of specialised techniques we correct conditions that result in watery eyes, restoring a more normal tear function to the eye.
Generally outpatient, correction of tearing is most commonly performed under general anesthesia, and may require an overnight stay when combined with other procedures.
Correction of your tearing may be covered by your insurance; please discuss your potential benefits and precertification for surgery with our staff.
You may engage in light activity the day after your surgery. Depending on any accompanying procedures, a return to more normal activity may take 1-2 weeks.
Proper care of your eyes and sun protection including sunglasses are essential during healing.
Results can be long-term, however, recurrence can occur from additional scarring of the tear duct.
