Eyelid Repairs
Correction of previous surgery may be desired to improve unsatisfactory conditions such as unnatural, rounded or tight eyelids.
Prior eyelid surgery may result in eyes that have difficulty closing, or excess sclera show where the white inside the lower eyelid is revealed. Complications may include ectropion or entropion where an abnormal lower lid position may cause eye discomfort.
We restore a naturally shaped eyelid with improved position, shape, and function. An internal lower lid spacer and lateral canthoplasty may be required to elevate the lower lid back to a more natural position.
Generally outpatient, eyelid repairs are most commonly performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation.
Correction of your eyelids may be covered by your insurance; please discuss your potential benefits and precertification for surgery with our staff.
You may engage in light activity the day after your surgery. Depending on any accompanying procedures, a return to more normal activity may take 1-2 weeks. Gradual improvement of your eyelid shape will occur over the following 4-6 weeks.
Proper skincare and sun protection including sunglasses, are essential during healing.
Results can be long-term, however, eyelid revision surgery may require a staged approach or additional surgery depending on the extent of the correction required.
