Intense Pulsed Light - IPL

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is a light-based rejuvenation treatment that helps improve:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles;
  • Acne;
  • Age spots, sunspots, patches of darker skin;
  • Rough textured skin;
  • Small thread veins around the nose;
  • General complexion correction and rejuvenation.

Years of sun and UV radiation exposure can have a detrimental effect on your hands, face, and décolletage. As a result, wrinkles, rough skin and pigmentation, age spots or brown freckles and marks, form. We refer to this type of skin damage photo-damage since it is damage caused by exposure to light from the sun (UVA and UVB radiation). Markedly, even with the use of sun protection creams (SPF), sunscreens, and other protective skin agents, your skin is prone to photo-damage over time.

At The Ghanem Clinic we use IPL technology to  rejuvenate skin damaged by sunlight exposure, correct pigmentation, improve skin texture. It also stimulates the production of new skin cells to restore a more youthful appearance.

How it Works

IPL technology delivers repeated flashes of light in specific wavelengths to the treated area. When the light is absorbed by the melanin in the age spots and dark freckles or in the Hemoglobin in the red patches, the heat consequently accumulates in the treated area, breaking it down and encouraging the natural healing response of the skin to repair itself.

The device we use delivers the highest energy volume on a specific light wavelength. Thus, we can efficiently target pigmentation and vascular concerns and achieve outstanding results.

Repeated IPL treatments are needed to ensure that the pigmentation or vascular lesion is removed and to encourage further skin improvement. For optimal results we recommend a course of 3-6 treatments every 3-4 weeks.

Treatment comfort

Most people do not find IPL treatment uncomfortable and liken it to the sensation of someone flicking your skin. The device comes with built-in sapphire cooling tips that provide protection for the skin and produce an almost painless procedure.

Results

IPL results are expected to last around 12 months or longer when following a comprehensive prevention and maintenance skincare protocol. Results are not permanent as natural ageing and accumulated effects of sun damage continue with the effects of their processes appearing with time. We thus recommend repeating treatments once or twice a year to maintain results.
